Who uses the GUI and how ?
Many independent characteristics -> Multidimensional matrix of users.
- Frequency, interval and duration of usage
- Experience of user with comparable GUIs
- Knowledge about the task
- Motivation and aims
- Reasons to use this GUI: Fun and/or function
- Physical of mental Restrictions, e.g., language
- Environment
- Culture
Classes are build from subspaces of the matrix.
Evaluation of GUI usage
- Profile of functionality
- Deconstruct functionality in subtasks, processes and sequences (atomic actions)
- Analyses of order and frequency of actions -> shortcuts and reachability design
